With the onset of winter, we are entering a period of darker nights and certainly colder weather. This can affect our mood, and for some this can lead to a real problem of depression – with this seasonal problem being termed SAD – or Seasonal Affective Disorder.
At my clinic in Leeds, I see acupuncture as having a good record for treating depression, and SAD is no exception – whether mild or severe. The treatment is designed to lift the mood and create a feeling of vitality to beat those winter blues, and tailored to your needs.
If there are deeper more chronic feelings then we can explore these, or if we felt it necessary I can recommend a counsellor/psychotherapist. Acupuncture works very well in conjunction with talking based therapies.
One in four of us suffer from conditions like this in our lifetime. I think we can do something to help this. For further information about depression then please feel free to contact me, or there is a download at the British Acupuncture Council’s website, or at the ‘Mind’ website.
